Every year, Lyric hosts a Chamber Music Competition in collaboration with Lynn University's Conservatory of Music. The 2023 competition winner is Mercando Quartet, an all-female piano quartet . The competition was held on December 13, 2013 in Boca Raton, FL on the Conservatory campus. Mercando Quartet make its NYC debut with us on May 3, 2024.

Violinist Miriam Smith began her studies at the age of four. Her love for collaboration inspired her to pursue music performance, and in recognition of this passion, she was awarded the Silverman Scholarship from the Buffalo Chamber Music Society. She has also given several solo recitals and performances as winner of the 2023 John Oliviera String Competition and the 2023 Concerto Competition at Lynn Conservatory. Miriam has attended numerous festivals, most recently the Sarasota Music Festival. When she is not practicing violin, you can find her working in the music library. Miriam is currently studying with Guillermo Figueroa at the Lynn Conservatory.

Hailing from Rapid City, South Dakota, Megan Hagel began her cello journey at the age of 12. Discovering the joy of private study and solo performance through the local Black Hills Suzuki school two years later, she became inspired to pursue a music career. After a transformative gap year studying with cellist Ismar Gomes, Megan completed her freshman year at SUNY Purchase College as a student of Thomas Mesa, whom she also studied with at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. She has since transferred to Lynn Conservatory, where she is currently a junior under the guidance of Professor David Cole, and has found a deep love for chamber music.

Violist Lillian Platte is a freshman violist at Lynn Conservatory. Originally from New Jersey, Lily studied at Manhattan School of Music in New York City and built a close relationship with the regional orchestras in her area. An avid chamber musician, Lillian has studied at Atlantic Music Festival, Blue Mountain Music Festival, Luzerne Music Center and New England Music Camp. She will be making her solo debut on the Walton Viola Concerto this season with Stephen Culbertson and the Society of Musical Arts Orchestra. Lillian has performed in masterclasses with world class musicians such as Michelle LaCourse, Atar Arad, and Lauren Hodges.

Elisabeth Thomashoff started piano at age four. She has concertized in the USA, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, and Estonia. Recently, she performed Shostakovich Concerto No. 2 with Tampa Bay Symphony and Ocala Symphony Orchestra and Grieg Concerto with PBA Symphony Orchestra. Her competitions include 1st Prize and concert invitation in Vienna from International Chopin Competition; 1st Prize Jack Heller Young Artist Competition; 1st Prize Ocala Young Artist Competition; Honorable Mention Odyssiad Competition; 1st Prize PBA Concerto Competition; 1st Prize at Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition in Salzburg, Austria and laureate of III Teresa Carreño International Piano Masters Competition. Elisabeth currently studies with Dr. Roberta Rust at Lynn Conservatory of Music.
